Within Mitt Liv's CEO program CEOs for D&I (CEOs for Diversity & Inclusion), Alexander Wennergren Helm from Ernströmgruppen, Elisabeth Peregi from Kappahl Group, Jakub Jankowski from IKEA Industry, Martin Malmvik from Axel Johnson International, and Paula da Silva have developed five concrete actions named "Courageous Recruitment."

These five actions aim to improve and transform recruitment methods from the startup phase to hiring, making them more inclusive. This includes actions such as creating more diversified short lists with zero tolerance for homogenous selections, and placing higher demands on recruitment firms. The participating companies commit to implementing these actions, which will be followed up in a year.

ꟷ For us as a fashion company, it is crucial to have a recruitment process that reflects our diverse customers. We interact with thousands of customers every day, and our ability to understand them is enhanced by having employees with different backgrounds and abilities. As a major player, we have both a responsibility and an opportunity to influence and strengthen society, says Elisabeth Peregi, CEO of Kappahl Group.

Encouraging more business leaders and organizations to join

The hope is that more business leaders and organizations will join these actions and drive change in the business world and the labour market. Lenka Prokopec Karlberg, CEO of Mitt Liv, states:

ꟷ The actions should serve as a starting point to increase focus on these important issues and facilitate change. We will now work further to get more companies to work with this initiative. Additionally, we want to collaborate with recruitment firms to ensure a common vision and unified strategy between customer and supplier.

ꟷ I encourage all CEOs to be bold and join in. Courageous Recruitment is truly an initiative that will make a difference and will strengthen both us as companies and the people we engage with, says Elisabeth Peregi.

5 actions for Courageous Recruitment:

1. Zero tolerance on homogenous shortlists

2. Stronger demands on external recruitment/search providers

3. Diverse mindset in hiring teams

4. Inclusive descriptions within the recruitment process (job descriptions, competence profiles, advertising texts and candidate information)

5. Rewarding the intentional inclusion.

About CEOs for D&I®
CEOs for D&I was initiated in 2021 by Mitt Liv. The program aims to encourage the business sector to take greater responsibility for diversity, equity and inclusion. The goal for each program is to reach a company-wide commitment. So far, 19 CEOs have completed the program. In April 2024, Mitt Liv partnered with the Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education to further develop the program with a more extensive research basis and to certify participating CEOs. The next group in the new program will start in 2025. Read more about CEOs for D&I here.
