The program lasts for 4 months and entails a commitment of around 10 hours in total. During the program you are expected to meet with your mentor on at least 4 occasions, and you are responsible for booking these meetings yourselves. You are also expected to take part in the program’s joint meetings. It is fine if you wish to combine your participation in the program with e.g. ongoing studies or an existing job.
An administrative fee of 195 SEK applies to the processing of your application as a mentee. The administrative fee is used to cover the costs of reviewing and processing applications.
To submit your application, the administrative fee must be paid first. Once the payment is completed, you can submit your application for processing.

All group meetings in the program are held in English. During your meetings, you and your mentor can choose the language you feel most comfortable speaking.
We always strive to accept as many mentee applications as we can. Whether or not we can offer you a place in the program depends on two things: whether you meet the application criteria, and whether we are able to find a suitable mentor to match you with. After the matching process, we notify all applicants via email as to whether or not we are able to offer them a place in the program on this occasion.
The program is aimed at individuals with a foreign background and post-secondary education who don’t have a job in their area of competence in Sweden.
We match participants with mentors from various industries, but we want to be transparent that it can be more difficult to find mentors in certain professions, especially teaching and medical fields (such as doctors, dentists, or nurses).
We always do our best to create meaningful matches, but in some cases it may be difficult to find a suitable mentor within your specific profession.
As an applicant, you are responsible for ensuring that the information in your application is accurate, as it forms the basis for our matching process. Please make sure to provide correct details regarding both your background and the industries you are interested in working in in the future.
Matching is done as far as possible based on educational background, industry, geographical location, and work experience. In some cases, it is not possible to find a mentor with a similar background. In those situations, we prioritize ensuring that every mentee is still offered a mentor, as we believe that mentorship can provide great value even without an exact match.
We consider other factors that can contribute to meaningful conversations and development – for example, the mentor’s experience with the Swedish labour market and recruitment processes. Our goal is to give as many participants as possible the opportunity to join the program and receive support on their path into the job market.
The mentor’s role is to act as a sounding board and to provide you with guidance based on your specific needs, circumstances and goals. You work together to navigate issues concerning the Swedish labour market, the job-seeking process or a specific industry or sector. The mentor’s assignment is not to find a job for his/her mentee; rather, the primary aim of the program is for the two of you to work together, with the help of the mentor’s support and guidance, to improve your possibilities of finding a job that matches your qualifications and skills.
Our mentors come from a mix of different sectors/industries, and roles – just like our mentees! Most of the mentors in our program are affiliated with Mitt Liv’s collaboration partners.
The purpose of the program is to provide you with support, guidance, and an expanded network that increases your chances of getting closer to a qualified job in Sweden.
Mitt Livs Chans is intended for individuals who don’t have a job in Sweden that matches their qualifications. If you currently have a job but it does not match your qualifications and skills, you are welcome to apply for a place in our program. You are also welcome to apply for a place in our program if you are currently studying, although in this case we recommend that you submit your application when you have entered the final phase of your studies and have started looking for a job (please state this in your application).
Post-secondary education is education that has taken place after completing upper secondary school. Examples of post-secondary education include university studies, higher vocational education and studies at a polytechnic or folk high school.
No – the Mitt Livs Chans mentoring program is run and managed by Mitt Liv AB (svb), a social enterprise that finances the program through its own consulting activities, collaborations and partnerships. You don’t need to be registered with the Swedish Public Employment Service in order to participate in Mitt Livs Chans.
Mentees pay an administrative fee to cover the costs associated with reviewing and processing applications. This includes the technical systems and tools used to assess, match, and communicate with participants in a fair and secure manner.
Mentors participate voluntarily in the program to share their experience and support a more inclusive labour market. To lower the threshold for engagement, we do not charge any fees from mentors.
The fee for mentees applies to the application process only – participation in the program is free of charge if you are accepted.

The application fee helps cover the costs of reviewing and processing applications. This includes:
- Use and maintenance of IT systems that support a fair and secure process
- Staff time to read, assess, and manage applications
- Coordination of the mentor–mentee matching process
- Communication before the start of the program
The fee applies only to the application process – participation in the program is free of charge if you are accepted.
