Today, we launch our 2024 impact report, highlighting our efforts to promote an inclusive labour market that values diversity. The report shows a challenging labour market for foreign-born individuals, along with important progress in diversity and inclusion through mentorship and long-term partnerships.
Sweden faces a significant challenge in the labor market, ranking second in Europe for the unemployment gap between college-educated migrants and natives. Unemployment in Sweden among foreign-born individuals with higher education during 2023 was 8,3%, compared to 2,5% for native-born (SCB).
Our survey shows that the proportion of mentees from our mentoring program who secured jobs or internships dropped from 51% to 38% over the past year, but 83% of those found roles matching their qualifications. Additionally, 9 out of 10 established new professional contacts, and 74% reported better opportunities to find jobs aligned with their skills. Moreover, 6 out of 10 reported increased self-confidence.
The positive effects of mentorship are evident for the program's mentees, employers, and mentors themselves. 65% of collaboration partners report that mentors have become internal ambassadors for inclusion and diversity, and 82% see them as role models for inclusive behaviour at the workplace. Furthermore, 71% of mentors have contributed energy and motivation to inclusion efforts. According to the mentors, 9 out of 10 have developed insights into inclusive workplaces and improved their leadership and coaching skills, while 80% gained ideas to promote inclusion at their workplaces.
Surveys among our collaboration partners reveal that 78% state Mitt Liv contributed to their inclusion efforts, with 91% implementing changes to enhance inclusion during the collaboration. Additionally, 52% reported that Mitt Liv supported a more inclusive recruitment process, while 78% took steps to make their recruitment practices more inclusive.
