A message from our CEO

Navigating the importance of DEI in an increasingly polarised world is about addressing challenges and embracing opportunities to unite rather than divide.

For businesses, DEI means understanding demographic shifts and ensuring that the workforce reflects these changes. Employees should feel fairly treated and included, yet data reveals significant gaps, including unemployment disparities and underrepresentation in leadership roles.

During difficult times, it’s often the most vulnerable groups that are impacted the hardest. Sweden has the second-largest unemployment gap in Europe between college-educated migrants and natives, with only 4.5% of management teams being non-white. Switzerland, where Mitt Liv recently established a subsidiary, ranks 21st in gender equality. This underutilization of talent is a huge brain waste, impacting not just businesses but society. Simultaneously, many industries face critical skills shortages.

Mitt Liv’s mission is clear: to create equal opportunities based on individuals’ competence and potential, bridging the gap between talent and employers’ needs. Our focus is to ensure that everyone, regardless of background, has access to a labour market that values merit, diversity, and inclusion.

And we are hopeful. Research consistently shows that companies integrating DEI into their core strategies are more successful, innovative, and sustainable in the long run. We are seeing forward-thinking CEOs and boards embrace this, and their commitment is evidenced by the success of our CEOs for D&I program, which has welcomed 19 participants since 2021. Additionally, through our new partnership with Stockholm School of Economics Executive Education, CEOs will now be certified after this program, underscoring the growing recognition of DEI’s importance in leadership.

The Edelman Trust Barometer 2023 shows that business is now the most trusted institution and the only one seen as both ethical and competent. This shift reflects rising expectations for companies to lead on societal issues like economic inequality and reskilling. The report also highlights growing global polarisation, declining economic optimism, and widening trust gaps.

Despite these challenges, there’s a strong call for businesses to step up.

Now is the time for action. In difficult times, our commitment to fairness and inclusion will shape the future. I hope you will find the impacts that we present in this report inspiring and that you will join Mitt Liv in our movement for lasting, positive change!
